The Republican took a few seconds and said that the passage of this bill would permanently settle the revenue side of things and that everyone can now focus on "tax reform" and spending cuts.

Levin took a few seconds and responded that the passage of this bill did not mean that the revenue side of things was permanently settled.

This is the entire problem. Democrats that are in favor of this bill assume that it doesn't preclude additional tax revenue from being discussed when the two-month temporary delay ends. Republicans have said this will not be the case; they believe this bill will settle the revenue side of things.

Given the fact that Republicans stick by their guns (no pun intended) more often than Democrats, I'd be willing to bet that there won't be any further meaningful additional tax revenue in the coming months during the sequestration / debt ceiling talks.

And that is why I do not support this bill.
