I'm not saying he is an atheist. But being a Catholic, he should defer to the Pope on spiritual matters. That's what Catholicism is, utltimately... it is a hierarchical organization.

He is Catholic for the trappings, but he does not actually believe the Pope is Christ's Vicar. If he did believe that, he'd think he was endangering his soul.
