In reply to the discussion: Platner is fundraising by dissing Democrats [View all]Easterncedar
(6,430 posts)70. The attacks against Mills have traction among my lefty friends. It confounds me.
I like Mills, although she is too ideologically centrist and pragmatic for me. She has been a very effective and creative Governor. She was terrific during the pandemic. She is honest to the core. She works hard.
But I dont think she can beat Collins. The Rs and Independents wont vote for Mills. Some will vote for Platner.
Some of Dems who are going for Platner are making a calculation that he can beat Collins, and some are desperate for a hero narrative they can attach their fantasies to and just want to believe in the guy who rode in out of nowhere. They find him charismatic.
Its a bad situation, but I will vote for Mills in the primary and expect to have to vote for Platner in the general.

"Drain the swamp" of elites, supporters think he's honest and "tells it like it is." Sounds familiar.

But there are so many timid candidates who won't even say there are justices who *should* be impeached.

I wouldn't vote for him unless it appears he can get Concerned and Corrupt Susan out.
