1. Ha! Our county courthouse does a version of that.

The areas under the benches are packed with old law books as a barrier the judges can duck behind in case a shooter makes it to the courtroom. The family law courtrooms, on the fourth floor, also have nets outside the windows behind the bench so the judges can jump, if necessary.
