here's Fields take on the pecking order...

"Field, last night you blogged about a "pecking order" when it comes to American lives; please tell us what you think the pecking order is from top to bottom."

I am always glad to oblige someone who reads the field's blog and takes the time to send an e-mail.

1. White women.

2. White children.

3. White men.

4. Others. (Hispanics,Asians, etc.)

5. Black children.

6. Black women.

7. Pets.

8. Black men.

You are welcome.

I very much appreciate another perspective. I was thinking about that list, and the correlation with news reports. I think he gets pretty close.

I was toying with the thought that such a "pecking order" seems downright unfair, and that if we could fix it so that everyone got equal concern, we might do away with a lot of the violence, gun and otherwise. Maybe more than just hiding some guns and extra clips away from a large number of people. It's more effort, but for our return on investment it might be better.
