And yes, this whole charade called the 'Fiscal Cliff' was not only a sham to take us further down the Austerity Road, it was shameful and it was Congress being derelict in its duties, handing over control of the people's business to a 'gang of eight'. Anyone watching this display from outside this country must wonder 'what happened to democracy in the US'?
But putting SS on the table was the most egregious act of all. And it will be there again in two months, when we go through all of this all over again.
But hey, we've been abused for so long we are now trained to be grateful for crumbs. We willingly give up our rights with each 'team' excusing the betrayals depending on which one is doing it.
On the good side, fewer people are playing along now than ever before and I am placing my hope for the future of this country, NOT in anyone currently in office but in those who see through the game, who have formed coalitions of organizations that prepresent millions of Americans and who are beginning the long, hard work of taking this government back out of the hands of Wall Street. It will take a long time, but at least the work has finally begun thanks to the fact that they all got too greedy making it clear to anyone with any brain cells functioning, that our country has been sold out, slowly for decades, and speeding up over the past several years.
I will never cheer for crumbs. Or for the giving up of rights. The people own this country, they are entitled to far more than the crumbs being tossed by those who stole its resources and bought our government with the proceeds.
