In January, Fetterman reacted to a news headline about the average working family spending nearly $4,000 annually on healthcare with skepticism. He texted his staff, questioning the notion of affordability:

“How should it cost? Free? I don’t understand what affordability it is.”



Later that month, following the release of the Epstein files, Fetterman sent a text calling the files a “nothing burger,” further trivializing their significance by joking about former President Clinton’s involvement: “Worst pics I’ve seen were from Clinton lol.”


The controversy deepened with Fetterman’s response to the killing of Alex Pretti by ICE agents in Minneapolis. Instead of focusing on the tragedy, he raised concerns about perceived Democratic hypocrisy, comparing it to the condemnation of Kyle Rittenhouse:
