(114,872 posts)these cocky defense attorneys are stupid enough to ask questions, that I, as a sane person, answers honestly. The murder trial attempt to sit a jury derailed when I was asked an open question about guns and my view on self defense. I did not know what the trial was and certainly did not know it was a murder trial. I simply stated that I did believe in self-defense when the threat is immediate and ongoing, but not when someone leaves the scene only to return with a gun to shoot the person originally involved in the altercation. Apparently that was exactly what happened and the trial was ended with the judge allowing a "Hail Mary" request for a psych evaluation delay.
The other one was less serious, but they were again assuming a jury pool uninformed about much of anything and not merely the particulars of the upcoming trial.
