Defense Department removes "Christian" from faith codes [View all]
https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2026/06/08/pentagon-lds-church-reclassification/90457626007/A few days ago the Pentagon released a list of faith codes - which are two letter designators for religions - that cut the previous over-200-faith list to about 30. On it were 21 faiths marked “Christian,” but LDS was not one of them. Utah’s senators were not pleased.
Today they sent a new list that removed “Christian” from all the churches so labeled in the original list.
