The overall success rate of CPR depends heavily on the setting and how quickly it is started.

Out-of-Hospital: About 10--11% of people who experience sudden cardiac arrest outside the hospital survive to hospital discharge. However, performing immediate bystander CPR can double or triple these chances of survival.

In-Hospital: CPR performed inside a hospital has a survival rate to discharge of about 15--20%.
