45. The safety blanket you demand

is for your ego and sense of decorum, not your body. We all want to live in a world without violence or reminders of it. In the United States, freedom from violence or reminders of it is pretty much the case for the vast majority of us. But if someone wants to shoot you in the middle of your latte at Starbucks, it won't matter whether you see the gun or not. He will be able to access it and blow your brains out with it before you can do anything.

There is no evidence that "that guy" doesn't trust you. Nor is there any reason for him to do so. What have you done to deserve his trust? It's not fair, or even possible, for the government to create a zone of comfort around your personal sensibilities or your interpretation of the intentions of others.
