41. I don't think Victor ever really made any secret of his sexual orientation.

He just doesn't talk about it. He's in his sixties now, and back when he was young, cops were still raiding "gay bars," even in places like NYC. That has to have some effect on how he deals with the "issue," for lack of a better word.
