(172 posts)Gun control will consume the debate and Congress, and I suspect slow or kill Democratic political momentum. Things that need done (see below) will get bogged down.
These contentious issues and yes gun control is contentious for me because I'm a stickler for more, not less rights. I'm also a stickler that I don't want my rights taken away because of the actions a few criminals. We allowed Americans to be considered guilty first and innocent if proven otherwise.
It appears that I didn't get the memo that progressives are group thinking herd-able cats. I don't read partisan memos and I don't agree that urban elites have the right to cram down policies for rural America either. I use my own ability and views to critically think on issues, as opposed to those who allow others do their thinking for them as do many conservatives.
We need a Congress that works on fixing important things like......environmental change; ensuring no voter suppression and voting machines that don't lie; policies that will correct the building college tuition bubble; ending the wars and ensuring we don't get into others; getting to the root causes of the incredibly high cost of health care and low outcomes; correcting Wall Street before they break us again; bust up the TBTF banks; campaign finance reform that takes the big money out of politics; implement Card Check; immigration; Senate filibuster, etc. The list goes on for high priority items.
Progressive, Populist and Libertarian for citizens rights, not corporations
PS: Obama needed to put a similar priority on prosecuting the Wall St crooked banksters.
