People who think this is the first time we've seen this kind of discontent just haven't read their history books. There was almost a military coup against FDR. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Business_Plot
Then there was all that McCarthy bullshit that just about tore the country apart politically. But in neither instance did we get close to civil war, and we're not close now.
