68. I disagree with you. There are True Believers in their ranks.

I would bet that most of their public-facing lobbyists fit the bill, too. It's much easier to lobby for things if you convince yourself that they're true. Sure, the organization has its strings pulled by the moneyed interests, but the rank & file membership and much of the leadership are 100% on board with the lunacy. The disservice lies in dismissing their zealotry. Never underestimate what zealots are willing to do for their cause.
