(1,085 posts)I have known men for 30 years and I have no idea what their opinion on "drug tests for welfare" is. I would imagine about the same as mine ... STFU and bother someone else.
I know that those of us who follow politics and post on political forums have feelings that we hold to be true, and defend those opinions with robust debate, but you do realize that in the grand scheme of things we are the minority.
I am just curious, if you "disassociate with them entirely" do you have a questionnaire that you routinely have filled out? People's opinions change. What if I had a friend who I knew back before Fox news ever existed? When we all found out that Fox news was teh ebil was I to question those in my confidence as to their loyalty to the "cause". Oh my God, you watch O'Reilly ... you and I can never speak again and all memory of you, your wife and two kids shall be blighted from my thoughts. I hope you all rot in hell.
What if they lied to me about their opinion? Should I ask to see their tax return to make sure they did not donate to thine enemy?
My friends and I rarely talk politics ... we're busy, living life.
In your OP, the only person who sounded "concrete set in their opinions and your opinion only makes them more willing to sink lower to defend themselves against" was you.
