In reply to the discussion: I've spent much of the last 6 months defriending Right Wingers [View all]backscatter712
(26,357 posts)17. I'm with you - I'm allergic to assholes!
I have a few tricks I'm currently using to make Facebook suck less.
1. I use Social Fixer to automagically fix some of Facebook's brain damage like the constant Farmville posts & such - Social Fixer automagically filters them.
2. I created a new friends list that I call Dunbar's Circle, named after Dunbar's number, the theoretical cognitive limit to the number of meaningful relationships you have, which is estimated to be somewhere in the 150-200 range. My criteria for anyone I put into Dunbar's Circle:
[list]
A cool side-effect of going straight to Dunbar's List on Facebook is that I bypass much of the advertising and fluff and net.assholes that clutter up my Facebook feed, and Facebook again becomes a place where I can see what my friends are up to.
Now I'm going to have to create a Dunbar's Circle in Google+.
3. I have a Restricted List on Facebook for people, like right-wing family members that you don't want to deal with, but can't unfriend without creating a shitstorm. Then I have my status updates automatically set to be visible to Friends except Restricted.

I am not sure how many people you would be friends with still after your criteria for interaction.

The Prop H8 voters voted for hate, for right wing bigotry. They are not 'generally good'
