(53 posts)I am not fond of inoculations. No, I am not a nut that thinks the gubmint is trying to poison me, but my reason is a bit more primal.
I am a dog fanatic and really limit the vacs I give my dogs.
Yes, they get started as pups with the full panel, but spaced out pretty far.
They must get rabies, the law requires it.
After that, I get titer testing done to make sure they have the appropriate immune response. The testing actually costs more than the shot, but limits over use of the vaccine.
The strong evidence in vet medicine is that dogs and cats get TOO MANY vaccines and that the cancer and auto immune illness rates reflect a substantial assault on the dog's immune system.
We must monitor the health and not use this as a way to avoid treating our dogs, but vaccinate carefully.
With that in mind, I don't want to over vaccinate myself. I will not turn down a vaccine for a serious threat, but I prefer to use good exposure and germ control methods to avoid getting sick.
So far I have been either lucky or successful!
My wife received a slew of vaccines several years ago while working for FEMA and has had unbelievable issues since, neurological, immune, you name it. Don't really know for certain if all the vaccines caused it, but the timing pretty much leads us to think that.
With all that in mind, please make certain that you make sound medical decisions based on your own health needs. Stay safe and healthy so you can continue to share your self right here.
