(32,828 posts)12. I did security at a parking lot last week
It does double-duty as the lot for a community league and a couple of ethnic stores. There are about 50 spaces in total. Big signs were posted that the lot was closed and barricades were up. They had closed the entire street for a fair and were using the lot for parking for performers, technicians and the handicapped. We were also letting people in and out to the stores. Because of the increased traffic, the city had put big signs up prohibiting parking on the street approaching the lot.
What part of...
- The lot is full.
- You cannot get through, the street is closed, get over it.
- If I tell you to park in *that* spot, do not park in a completely different spot blocking three cars from getting out.
- If I tell you to park in front of the blue van, do not park in the far side of the lot, opposite to where you want to go, blocking the dumpster.
- If I tell you to park in the little spot in front of the dumpster that doesn't block the truck trying to get it out, do not park beside the dumpster blocking all incoming and outgoing traffic.
- Do not run over my foot.
- Do not attempt to run me over and kill me.
- If I tell you to leave the lot exiting straight, do not turn left down the alley. There's a truck stopped there. Do not bother honking at the truck for 10 minutes. It ain't moving. It's supposed to be there. You're not.
- If I tell you to stop going into the alley so the truck can get out, don't go down the alley. Everybody else is going to follow you and you're all going to get jammed in there.
... don't people understand.
I grieve for humanity.

Certainly. The squeaky wheels are getting a lot of grease but most of us are pretty cool.

I think so, but I get my facts from things other than American evening news. (nt)

Define hope. Is it simply survival of the species? If so, I have to say yes.
