(172 posts)I feel the same way you do in that the problems of the modern world can seem so overwhelming, so much so that you just want to crawl up into a little ball and hope that you can just survive through it. In the end, it is knowing your history that can help you. There has been so much that we have gone through. The end of times has come and gone again and again in our history and will come again. Those who lived through the Black Death thought that they were in the end times as did those who saw the first world war and the Spanish Flu wipe out whole generations. War, famine, death and disease stalk us as does the lion the gazelle. In the end, it is only our desire to grow and change that will save us. That change is in the wind right now, and you and I and every one who is ready to make this a better world is part of it. Don't give up, although I understand why you would want to. I see so much evil in the world that I don't think it can ever be changed. In the end, I know that there is more of us then them and I want to believe that right can overcome might. History says it is so, even though many lives may be lost in the effort. As long as there is enough of us who see the world we want to make, who are willing to work for it even if it is in small ways, who are willing to talk to others and share our beliefs, that is the tidal wave. We can be the 100th monkey. We are all the change we can believe in. Right now I can feel it. It may be too late for most of mankind but I think that we will pull through in the end. I just want the end to be a much better world for all those who inhabit it.
