There was no denying that that first debate was an epic faceplant. Not because his performance would have been, in itself, so bad from anybody else, but because he was capable of destroying Romney completely, and he just sort of... stood there, instead. And the polls reflected that, which really scared me. I absolutely worried after that.
And if it hadn't been for the blessed Nate Silver, I would have worried a lot more leading up to Election Day. The Romney team were so confident, and I'm a weird kind of optimist-about-life-in-general who wants a 99% guarantee before I can really relax. Especially when the stakes are as high as they were.
Thank goodness it all worked out!
