(46,179 posts)I would suggest that education in the ability to think, to reason, independently, to analyze information carefully, is a goal for all people, everywhere. That the world will become a better place when more people do so.
I don't think it's a solution specifically for rural communities. Ignorance is found everywhere.
As a matter of fact, it has been growing rapidly since the Reagan revolution, when the war on teachers and public education began, when the fairness doctrine became extinct, when privatization of everything, including everything that affects the way people think, became the national goal.
As I've said before, to reach rural voters, Democrats will have to leave their bias about rural people behind, to actually listen to them and address their concerns.
