36. a coworker and I were mistaken for prostitutes

I was working nights in Austin and I ducked down to the corner (around 11th & Congress) to have a smoke with an African-American coworker Doris (I smoked back then) - a very young cop pulled up and asked, "You ladies working tonight?" I replied yes - we work on the third floor of the bank building, waving my badge at him. He turned the brightest shade of red I have ever seen on a human being. Doris said, "HE THINKS WE'RE HOOKERS!" and started prancing around the cop car, cooing "I'M STRUTTING MY WARES.....I'M STRUTTING MY WARES" The cop stuttered his sincere apologies and left. Bet he never made that mistake again!!!
