(2,142 posts)though not nearly as bad as yours. I had an incisional hernia. They did a laparascopic repair. Supposed to be less pain, but I must be a wimp because it was as bad or worse than my c-section (vertical exterior incision). They kept me for one night and released me the following afternoon. Still in pretty strong pain. Started vomiting that evening. Vomited for six hours, many times. Hubby called ER and they said to bring me back. Dehydrated, hard to get IV in. Gave me anti-nausea meds and pain meds - ahhh, relief. Took an X-ray and determined I had an ilias (I have no idea how it is spelled - my understanding was that it is a partial blockage in the intestine). They admitted me again and kept me for another day. Pain was better with the IV meds, but after going home, I was paranoid of taking the pain meds because I feared it may have been partially those that caused me to be sick (even though I had the same med after my c-sect. with no issues). I was just terrified of getting so sick again - I had a lot of pain from that! So I didn't take the prescription pain meds and got by on ibuprofen. It was not enough. I was very uncomfortable for a long time. I believe it slowed my recovery significantly. I didn't feel somewhat normal for a month. Also, I had to resort to a laxative to really get things going again (then they got going a little to much!). All in all, it was not fun and much worse than I had anticipated.
Yours sounds far worse than mine, so I definitely feel for you! I'm glad they were able to discover the problem before things got worse and that you are healing and on the mend now. Take care!
