In reply to the discussion: Terrified & Disoriented coyote found in SF. "She’d given up" [View all]kimmylavin
(2,298 posts)24. I'm a little north of LA.
Our neighbors have lost about six cats in the seven years we've lived up here.
We've lost one - he died of old age.
They asked us how the heck we do that, and we say that our cats don't go outside!
They say they think that's mean to keep cats inside.
And I say that, personally, I think it's meaner to let them die in abject fear.
But yeah, they still don't listen.
Night time is coyote time around here.
Indoor cats, dogs only go out with us, on a leash, at night.
Never lost a pet to a coyote, never plan to.
And this way, I can enjoy the haunting sounds they make at night, and watching them jog by into the mountains.

They can be a problem for cattle that spend their lives outdoors. I won't go into details,

I've heard them in a park north of Seattle at night in the winter. They like to eat squirrels.

Poor thing. They live in packs, don't they? I hope she gets a new pack? Can they do that?

That's good to know. Seems like she'll do better, then, when released back intot the wild. nt
