I don't even understand why the food is terrible. There are a zillion chains, and while they're not fine dining or particularly healthy, most of them have stuff that tastes way better than Applebee's. My son's first server job was at an Applebee's, so we used to go once in a while when he was on. Mediocre was a culinary triumph at that place. There's been one less than five minutes away from the house for years now and we don't really even think of it when/if we're looking to eat out, even though the price is right. It literally doesn't even cross our minds. So, boycotting will not be an issue for us.
