(1,388 posts)But it was a decently paid job. But the way people treated me/us was the same. So my wife and I always tip generously when we go out and are always pleasant with our servers. My brother was one of those minimal tippers. One time walking out of a breakfast restaurant he came up to me with a dollar he picked up from the table and told me I had left too much. I never let him tip anymore and make either his wife or my wife leave the tip when we go to breakfast. Also had an uncle (dentist) who was a cheapy, to the point of being embarrassing. The thing I got from all this is that from now on, I will give my server cash instead of leaving it on the credit card so as to make sure he/she gets it, instead of the owners. Great article in support of the people who work so hard to make our lives pleasant and easy. Was unaware that the US is one of the few countries that tips. Absolutely ridiculous that wait staff get paid so little and have to work so hard. Wealthy country, cheap people.
