10. Many (certainly not all) Iraq veterans signed up after 9-11

They felt a duty to serve after their nation had been attacked.

Mr. Kyle, as far as I am aware, obeyed the orders of the officers appointed over him to the best of his ability in accordance with the rules of land warfare and the US Constitution. That's all any of us can ask of any serving member of our military.

To your point, 'Nam was a double -whammy. We were lied to, and much of the fighting force was conscripted.
