appearing after the words "parent" and "citizen".

Also this was written, and the court case decided, prior to women being allowed to vote. That change in a woman's status (IMO) fundamentally changes the meaning of that part of the Constitution.

If this person's argument was followed to it's logical conclusion then no child born of a single mother could be considered a natural born citizen because he/she was not born to parents who were citizens. Not even if that child was conceived in wedlock by a natural born citizen who was serving in the military and lost his life prior to his child's birth.


I find this argument lacking to say the least. I also think that if these people want to ignore "a well regulated militia being necessary for the security of a free state" then they need to lighten up about two spots where the letter "s" appears.

I also find it laughable that the (R)s wanted to amend the Constitution just so Arnold Swarchenegger could run for President a decade or so ago.

This Freep is headed for a nervous breakdown because he/she is focused entirely on the letter of the law (literally) and completely ignoring the spirit of it.
