Senator "Sunspot" Johnson (T-Wi) demands a budget or he'll stop government [View all]

This clueless asshat has proposed just one bill since entering the Senate - a ridiculous proposal that would have prevented the FDA or USDA or any other federal agency from creating any new regulations. New food product - no testing. New household cleaner - no problem. Can't let little things like consumer protection stand in the way of corporate profits.

Now Sunspot is once again threatening to halt government if his petty demands aren't met.

WASHINGTON — Just hours before President Barack Obama urged lawmakers to set aside partisan bickering for the good of the country, U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson was again accusing Senate Democrats of fiscal negligence and threatening to gum up the legislative process if the chamber failed to pass a budget by April 15.

...

Johnson said it was unconscionable that Democrats had not passed a budget plan as required by law, given the nation's dire fiscal standing with a debt of more than $15 trillion.

...

During a Senate floor speech in June, Johnson chided Democratic leaders over the chamber's failure to pass a budget and stunned even some of his GOP colleagues by objecting to unanimous consent to allow Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., the senior Republican on the Senate Budget Committee, an opportunity to speak.

Unanimous consent is a procedural method that speeds up the process on routine business that comes to the Senate floor. Rarely is there an objection. Johnson said Tuesday he is prepared to do it again this year.

Speaking for the good People of Wisconsin: We're so sorry we allowed this idiot to beat Russ Feingold.
