To continue the analogy:

Here, we do have a large group that wants to take away all his woodworking tools. So under those conditions it is entirely understandable that he would oppose such laws and would join organizations dedicated to the preservation of his right to have woodworking tools.

Because there are so many who really are trying to completely outlaw guns, it is natural that we would push back.
