Several years ago I was involved in an auto collision where the cop was too lazy to be bothered to sort out what happened. He wrote everyone tickets and said "let the judge sort out what happened". I was pissed but was told that this happens "all the time". Fortunately I had a camera in the car and took pictures of the accident scene that I gave to my insurance company. Those pictures were used in court to convicting the driver who hit my car (and 4 others) as well as having my "charges" dropped and no increase on my insurance.
