The President won't cut spending, not because he is "weak,' but because the spending the republicans want to cut is in areas where it's desperately needed: Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, help for veterans, poor children, old people who are sick. Meanwhile, they refuse to cut spending on oil subsidies, closing corporate tax loopholes, pork barrel type defense contractors, and the ilk. Sadly, folks who only gloss over headlines will continue to perceive Democrats as tax-and-spend-happy hippies who feel entitled to a free ride.
