6. Just thinking aloud but there is the idea of salvation "by grace not deeds"

in fundamentalist christianity.

The idea is that you are chosen by God's "grace", there is nothing you can do to earn it, in fact you can be the nicest, kindest person in the world but if you're not "chosen" you're still going to you-know-where.

Plus once you're chosen you can do almost anything because your sins are paid for (but if you're caught doing something bad you just need to repent and you're forgiven).

This seems to be the idea behind "the Family", the small group of powerful "chosen" people but also Republicans/teapers/freepers in general.

This shows in the Foxmedia meme that it is what you are deep down that matters, not what you do. So, for example, they think that deep down Obama is a socialist muslim even if his words and deeds prove the opposite. In contrast, deep down Newt and Sarah Palin are true christians (even if their words and deeds show the opposite).
