I saw an excellent article by Joseph Stiglitz on the economy yesterday here on DU.
He is saying what people who survived the first depression and are still smart enough to discuss their experiences are saying: we don't have jobs because of the extremely rapid technological changes. We need to build the infrastructure that can support jobs of all kinds using this new technology.
We should have high-speed internet available everywhere to everyone.
That should be a federal priority. That and other infrastructure improvements to help more people use recently developed technologies would spur the economy.
Nothing helped our economy more than the Tennessee Valley Authority and similar electrification projects.
New forms of transportation -- not just repairing old, obsolete freeways, would be a good idea.
Of course, Congress is holding these kinds of projects back, but Obama could do a much better job of selling the ideas to voters who would then sell them to the Congresspeople.
