(135,425 posts)living on the edge up close and personal. I think it's disgraceful that the elderly have to struggle in their twilight years to make ends meet, and I don't think they should "know better" in order to not be ripped off. In fact, I'm the bozo who, when I find out that someone's granny's TV has gone out, I'll ask around and see if I can find someone who has gone to flat screen and tossed their unused CRT up in the attic or down in the basement, and I'll lug the damn thing over and set it up to save 'em those few bucks. I'm neighborly that way, and I admire others who take the same attitude. I just don't understand this attitude that being decent is somehow weak or foolish. In the long run, it pays dividends.
