6. I took my own two boys to the Corcoran on a day trip when they were young

We took the subway from the 'burbs and came up a couple of blocks from the gallery and strolled down the same gravel path the President's family walked down. You pass the old Smithsonian on the Corcoran Gallery side and the National Gallery and the Museum of Natural History on the other (great visits there, as well). We brought our own lunches and ate them by the sculpture garden in front of the Corcoran. We all agreed that the best part was the air conditioning and the ultra-soft leather seats in the gallery. Great art, too . . .
