Between Seth MacFarlane and the Onion, Oscars night was a festival of misogyny
http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2013/feb/26/seth-macfarlane-onion-oscars-misogyny
None of these men and women could possibly have a point. The women are all think skinned, humorless whiners, filled with 'poutrage' who can't let go. The men are clearly under the thumbs of harridans; feminazis. They're all pathetic and they don't get that MacFarlane was being subversive and post-ironic. Or something.
And no, I won't let it go. Much of the reaction here at DU has been an approximation of the above paragraph. That reflects a sexism problem here on DU- much as that will be vehemently denied.

Yes, going by meta you'd think the use of the p word as an insult wasn't at all sexist or misogynist

IMHO he actually was being subversive, but I totally get how/why people got offended.

I wasn't offended, to me it was his usual unfunny idea of humor. He's not that good.

think part of the problem with the Oscars is that they give one important award out

But it's OK to shame boob-showing actresses, when it wasn't their idea to show them, but the boss's?

From what I read their complaint is specific to the Oscar ceremony. Don't see why that obligates
