I've done a lot of 'road trips' since at one point I lived a 12 hour drive away from my family and a flight was far too expensive, so I drove. There were a few places along the way I would stop to use the restroom. Sometimes I bought something, sometimes I didn't. If I didn't, and they had a nice, clean restroom and looked like a nice place, I was likely to make sure I stopped at that place again, either on the way back or the next time I was passing through. And, I would often end up buying something the next time I stopped in.

This one place I drove by was a run down dump so I had never stopped there but when I was newly pregnant I HAD to go, so I stopped and didn't buy anything but noticed a corner of the store that had some local First Nation's crafts that were beautiful. The next time I stopped in I bought a few crafts for Christmas gifts that year. Had the owner chased me down after my first visit for not buying something, it's not very likely I'd have bought any crafts as I never would have set foot in that store again.
