(25,406 posts)And to top it off, there was that email that Woodward received from Gene Sperling, who as the President's director of the National Economic Council made it clear that the sequester was to be replaced by both revenues and entitlement "reforms". Surely, you have to be convinced that this is going to come to pass, especially once the blame for the sequester and any further government shutdown activity falls more (or more equally) on the President than it does the Rethuglicans.
We can shape the choices that are inevitably going to be made, or we can refuse to believe they're going to happen, and they will happen if the Repukes eventually gain power. Chained CPI would be nearly painless in a very low inflation economy, and would be most severe in a high inflation economy. Unless we can get something useful done soon, we're headed for the latter, and we all suffer in that situation.
