My part of Wisconsin makes a LOT of money off of winter recreation. (Snowmobilers, Ice Fishermen, Snowshoers, Cross-Country skiiers, etc.) Very mild Winter with little snow + Bad economy = Very bad news for a lot of the little Mom and Pop operations up here.
