83. think I'm gonna go home and burn a flag or two tonight....

Jan 2012

I mean, COME ON. There are lots of things we need to work on in this country that really do matter, but flag burning isn't one of them. This is one of the most pathetic attempts to smear OWS that I've seen yet. Next up-- let's condemn them for JAY WALKING! Or TALKING OUT OF TURN! Or simply for consuming oxygen that might be better spent on a millionaire's children.

The one percent uses all kinds of issues to divide us. Flag burning, huh? Sheesh.

Semantics. demosincebirth Jan 2012 #71
Uh . . . anything to do with ANY kinds of words IS semantics. Is your reference to this negative? patrice Jan 2012 #73
There is a related term "semiotics" that has to do with the meaning of symbols. patrice Jan 2012 #75
Couldn't disagree more. It's just fabric, so long as one is burning one's own flag, doesn't matter. Lionessa Jan 2012 #3
Right on, Lioness, you LIVE it. That doing does not require a symbol. It IS the embodiment of truth. patrice Jan 2012 #46
If you honor what the Flag represents, you must accept that some will wish to destroy it. baldguy Jan 2012 #4
Yes, of course. It is our right to burn the flag. MineralMan Jan 2012 #7
