(9,126 posts)47. A funny thing happened on the way to a Philosophy degree
I was working to pay for my ridiculously expensive college education at a very high-end retail store. I was waiting on a woman and her husband who was more than annoyed to be in the cosmetics department at the Chanel counter. He took great delight in treating me like crap and made more than a few comments implying I was just a stupid salesgirl, even implying I couldn't add in my head when his wife asked me to subtotal her purchases.
A co-worker came up and said, "You can't treat her like that. Do you know where she goes to college?" He asked and I answered. He scoffed and rudely asked my major. When I answered, "Philosophy." He guffawed and said, "I thought they didn't make that anymore." I just grinned.

"If" is a conjecture from the past. Does "If" disappear once all alternatives have been satisfied

As long as Ayn Rand is a banned topic, other than criticism... sounds good.
