Only one firefighter was on duty to respond to a blaze although there were police there. The firefighter was seriously burned as he was the only professional fire fighter to respond and the only one equipped to go inside. The back story to this is that the Emergency Manager appointed to oversee Benton Harbor decided police could assist with fires and laid off the firefighters they had. This is what comes of the nonsense going on in Michigan. So any of you who think Detroit will be better off.....think again.
The firefighter has been airlifted to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo and the public safety department has not responded to questions by the press.
The emergency manager stands by his decision.
