I have become the (extended) family matriarch.
I am protective of family ties and want to pass on family heritage to those who will never know it without my input.
So, yes, their political stance was imbued by the other side of their parentage, but I'm not giving up on them as people.
I not going to convert them to my way of political thinking and they're not going to convert me to theirs.
It's a stalemate, and I can accept that.
