The reason why Progressive can't make progress in the United States can be summed up by [View all]

myopic political correctness.

Look at how people attack Paula Dean, they throw mud at her for one bad wart but ignore all the other good she has done. Paula Dean is a big Jimmy Carter (most underrated President's in U.S. history) fan for those that don't know, and she has worked hard for what she has now. She is an example of a strong, independent woman, and an inspiration to other women in similar situations. Then you have the unwarranted attacks against Weiner (again ignoring all the good Weiner stood for), but of course Gingrich is allowed to be a potential Republican nominee while the progressive left complacently allows this to happen. Now, there are people associating flag burning with flying the Confederate flag? Flag burning is free speech and is no different than putting the flag upside down. Flag Burning is a symbolic gesture of disapproval of national empire building, and the flag being upside down is symbolic of distress. The United States currently operates like an empire and the nation is in distress. Does anyone disagree?

As progressives we can't make progress, and forward thinking if we are bogged down by the rules of the establishment. The goal of the establishment is to conserve the status quo. Conservatism is not only a preservation of the status quo, but an attempt return to the "good old days".

We need to make it clear which side we stand on.
