3 arrested after Quebec helicopter jail escape

Quebec provincial police say they've arrested three people 50 kilometres north of a Saint-Jérôme, Que., jail where two inmates pulled off a brazen daylight helicopter escape on Sunday afternoon.

Police said they arrested inmate Benjamin Hudon-Barbeau and two other suspects. The second inmate, Danny Provencal, remains at large. Police say an operation is currently underway in Chertsey, Que.

Hudon-Barbeau is alleged by police to have ties to the Hells Angels, Radio-Canada reported.

Earlier today, police said a helicopter hovered over the jail, northwest of Montreal, at around 2:30 p.m. ET. The escapees climbed on board with the help of a rope ladder.
