(94,200 posts)I don't know if she meant it to be derogatory, or not, but with the handle 'Professor', you should be more astute about the connotation of the word and take a look around the internet at the number of folks who recognized it instantly as an insulting way to address this black president - much less ask any black man to 'dance a little jig' for her. If you're just going to deny all of that, I suggest you try and listen to those who've had direct experience with the term as a derogatory insult.
You should have enough sense to know that there are many words and phrases which, by themselves, are seemingly innocuous, but, as you say, context is everything. Asking a black man to 'dance a little jig for you is highly offensive to many black Americans aware of the term's history and from their own life experience subjected to the language. You're defending what many would consider indefensible. Good luck with that.
