I think a lot of children have fantasies about bravely defending themselves and their families and their towns from the "bad guys." In the 50s with McCarthyism it was the COMMIES! and that probably lasted into the late 80s. I guess the kids nowadays have found some new boogeymen.

When I was a kid my plan was to use my big brother's shotgun from the commanding position of my upstairs bedroom window.
