18. I was attacked by a dog when I was three

My well to do Aunt has always had two beautiful German shepherds. One jumped over my playpen and attacked me on Thanksgiving. Won't ever forget the scene. All my relatives could say when questioned by authorities and neighbors was how it was so unexpected. They were such good dogs. I swear there was more grief from some over the thought the dog would be put down.
Seem to read several articles every year about some elderly person or small kid mauled to death by someone's pet. In every one it's always so tragic and such a surprise. And the comments section will be full of people crying discrimination and pleading with people to not to seek a ban, or laws or limits. Because the real tragedy would be judging the type of dog and not concern for human safety.
